As part of the conservation commitments between ROSIZO and the Resurrection Cathedral, annual inspections are conducted to verify the preservation of the unique iconostasis. Over more than a decade of cooperation, specialists have not only compiled inventories and documentation but have also conserved complex sections of paintings and carried out comprehensive restoration work.

One of the most recent large-scale projects was the restoration of five cathedral shrines: the icons of “Apostles Peter and Paul” (mid-18th century), “The Transfiguration,” “The Annunciation,” “The Dormition of the Mother of God,” and “Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker” (circa 1749). ROSIZO restorers strengthened the icons’ wooden supports, eliminated deformations, consolidated the craquelure, performed color toning within the areas of missing original paint layers, and applied a protective varnish coating. Each stage of the work was aimed at preserving the authenticity of the artworks and ensuring their future life within the church, alongside parishioners and pilgrims.

On October 23, 2026, Metropolitan Mercury of Rostov and Novocherkassk and Yuri Slyusar, Governor of the Rostov Region, visited the Resurrection Military Cathedral. The cathedral’s rector, Archpriest Valery Voloshchuk, presented the restored icons. During the visit, an initiative to organize an exhibition of these holy shrines in Rostov-on-Don with the support of the regional authorities was discussed.
