The bell tower of the Army Cathedral of Christ’s Resurrection is a little younger than the temple itself and was built in 1730. Like the cathedral, it is unique to the South of Russia, as it is the only hipped bell tower in the region. From the height of the bell tower, in clear weather, another military cathedral is visible, the successor of our’s – Novocherkassk Ascension Cathedral, the distance to which is 20 kilometers.

The bell tower, like the entire temple complex, has long required restoration. Finally, in the year of the 300th anniversary of the cathedral, by order of the Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Yuryevich Golubev, the necessary funds were allocated from the regional budget.

In order to understand the scale of the work, just look at the photographs, the work is in full swing, all the layers have been removed to their native brick, the lost places are eliminated and the historical masonry is restored. A large number of new bricks made for the old format are turned according to the drawings of the restoration project to preserve the style and architectural features of the monument of federal significance. The restoration of the bell tower began in mid-summer and according to plans should be completed before the end of this year.

On September 10, the senior priest of the cathedral Valery Voloshchuk, once again checked the progress of the work. Everything that is done by a team of 12 restorers is carried out in accordance with an approved project designed to restore the historical appearance of a cultural monument as accurately as possible.

The senior priest was convinced that the work is carried out as carefully as possible with respect to all historically significant elements of the bell tower.

It is joyful and gracious to witness how the shrine is being reborn! We ask for prayers and support for all who are not indifferent to the pearl of our land – our Army Cathedral of Christ’s Resurrection!
