The feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos this year has become special for pupils, their parents and teachers of the Sunday school of the parish of St. George the Victorious. Over 300 people took part in the Sunday School’s common communion!

On the eve, on Saturday evening, at the vesper, there was a common confession. And on Sunday morning, five buses with young pilgrims, parents and teachers came to the Army Cathedral of Christ’s Resurrection at the Divine service, which was headed by the senior priest Valery Voloschuk.

By tradition, our students did not only pray but also worked for the common cause, which is the Liturgy! At the divine service, together with the men’s choir, the girls choir sang under the direction of the sunday school director Mother Ksenia Voloshchuk and the boys choir conducted by Kirill Marchenko. At the kliros, our young readers, led by the headteacher of the Sunday school, Tatiana Fedosova, read the Hours, the preparatory prayers to Eucharist and thanksgiving prayers. In the altar, under the supervision of the Old Testament teacher and the parish altar boy Roman Lisitsyn, the boys worked. And the girls, along with the teacher in the New Testament Lyudmila Kuzmenkova, maintained the order and cleanliness of the candlesticks in the temple, helped distribute drinks and holiday leaflets.

On the feast of the Annunciation of the Virgin, there is a tradition to release white doves into the sky as a reminder of the Gospel story — how the Archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that she would give birth to the Savior of the whole world. And, of course, on the day of the “children’s” liturgy, this opportunity was provided to students – winners of the parish God’s law competition.

At the end of the service, there was a regale. The field kitchen prepared by the Rosgvardia Mobile Special Purpose Detachment (Rostov-on-Don) with the participation of representatives of the spiritual and patriotic center and the parents of the Sunday school is located on the clearing near the Resurrection Cathedral.

We thank all those who took part in the preparation of the holiday and congratulations on the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos!
